WHO WE ARE
We are human beings wanting to pick up trash from our local beaches. If you want to get garbage off the beach, then you're a part of Clean The Beach Worldwide!
We are not a commercial or political organization, we don't take donations, we're just a volunteer coordination group made up of people. People who want to make our oceans cleaner, and our world a bit nicer. If you have the same desire, read on below to learn more about how you can help!
WHAT WE DO TOGETHER
Together, we identify local beaches that need to be cleaned, and get out and do it! You can do this as part of a group, with friends or family, or by yourself. Every single one of us makes a difference.
We will share our cleanup results on Instagram, and you are encouraged to do so as well! Sharing your cleanup efforts could even inspire others to clean up their local beaches as well.
If you are not sure where to go, a large well-known public beach is usually a good choice. If there's a lot of people visiting there, chances are there will be some trash as well.
You can also check out the links at the bottom of this page for a map of public beaches in your area. When necessary, you should contact the appropriate public land manager to make sure you are working on public land, and keeping that land well maintained.
BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT:
Bring your own supplies. If there is an organized cleanup event, please bring your own trash bags, gloves, tools, sunscreen, water, and anything else you think is necessary.
Have a trash disposal plan. Before starting, please have a garbage deposit plan in place. If you can only collect enough to fit in your normal garbage at home, then you still made a difference.
Please don't trespass. We have made an effort to provide public beach maps at the links below, but they may not be accurate. If you're not sure it is public land, don't go.
Practice safety first. If you are unsure or suspect some trash is hazardous, play it safe and leave it alone. Contact relevant authorities if necessary.
Leave nature in its place. Make sure you collect all your own garbage, and do not remove any natural materials. Driftwood, plants, and shells are not trash; they are a part of the environment.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Do you have a free afternoon to get out to the beach? Cleaning up the beach doesn't have to just involve gathering trash, you can make a day of it! Walk along the shore, have a picnic, and if you see some garbage while you're there, pick it up. Even one less piece of trash on the beach is a benefit.
